Research Scientist — Battery Safety & Performance
I'm Dhev Kannan, a research scientist at UL Research Institutes. I design and run experiments on lithium-ion and sodium-ion cells and modules to understand thermal stability, degradation, and safety — work that feeds directly into the standards and testing methods the battery industry relies on.
Designing and running abuse and performance tests on commercial cells and modules to characterize thermal runaway behavior and failure modes.
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, pulse charging, and degradation studies across multiple cell chemistries — LCO, NMC, LFP, LMO, LTO.
Contributing editor and workforce-development committee member, helping document and grow the battery industry community each year.
CELI Fellow, building leadership skills for the clean energy transition alongside professionals across the sector.
